Women In Medicine 2025

On Friday August the 22nd, Lafayette Parish Medical Society held their annual luncheon at Ruffino’s on the River to honor Women in Medicine. The luncheon has been renamed “The Dr. Shirley Covington Luncheon” to honor Dr. Covington who passed away in December at the age of 90. Dr. Covington was one of 3 female physicians who started this amazing event where women in the medical field could network, cultivate relationships and support one other. The speaker was Dr. May Thomassee who spoke on the topic “Hormones, what to know for the mature woman”.
